#1818 was not an ALCO locomotive, but a General-Motors EMD one.
This locomotive is preserved in ALASKA into MATI, at Wasilla.
Source:
It has now the number #1718 because, in Alaska, locomotives are numbered in series meaning their power.
So, 1700cv gives serie 17**.
Alaska railroad had five MRS1 EMD in their locomotives. They were 1714,1715, 1716, 1717 & 1718.
They had also several MRS-1 ALCO numbered in 1600 serie.
When was a child, i've seen #1818 running in France.
Belowx, you can see #1818 in the station of my birthday town.
It was on end of october 1953.
I have built models of 1818/1718.
The 1818 in O Scale:
The 1718 in Alaska RR Livery, & in HO scale:
I'll try to publish a complet diagram of 1818 locomotive.

Hello
Like i've said previusly, Alaska RR had several ALCO MRS-1.
This is, below, the #1601:
Source:
As you can see it's different from the EMD MRS-1.
Following the consultation launched by the US Army, two manufacturers have responded.
EMD who built 13 locomotives and ALCO which produced 83.
Here, below, their respective characteristics:

Hello
I'll try to publish a picture of each EMD MRS-1.
They were numbered 1808 to 1820.
Alas, that of 1819 is not found yet, it is sought.

Ein Link zu dieser Seite hätte schon ausgereicht, Mecaso ...
diese vielen Bilder sprengen den Rahmen dieses Bauberichts!
A link to this page would have been enough, Mecaso ...
these many images beyond the scope of this building report!
